Something Tookish! is a Carved from Brindlewood hack designed for playing out cozy mysteries in a rustic halfling village. It is fairly close to the  original game, using mechanics designed by Jason Cordova (as well as a helping mechanic borrowed from Rise Up Comus' Under Hill, By Water), but with extensive reflavoring to suit a cozy fantastical village setting.

This game includes the following:

  • Player and Keeper reference sheets, including a discussion of changes made in this hack, Standard and Peculiar Moves, and Keeper Advice.
  • New helping mechanics suited to a Tolkienesque setting and game, along with a Player Aids sheet designed to assist players in comfortably using these mechanics.
  • A clear and simple character sheet
  • Four sample mysteries ("The Missing Muffin Tin," "The Disappearing Dwarves," "Gone to Seed," and "You've Got It All Wrong").
  • A Village Secrets/Conspiracy Mystery worksheet for the Keeper.
  • A 68 page rulebook featuring original artwork by Justin Howe (Yesterweird), available in two formats (spreads and pages, both PDF).

I really like this game, but the text seems to have a number of errors - usually game elements being referred to by the wrong name, presumably reflecting changes that have been made but not thoroughly implemented.

Are there plans for an update?

Thanks! Yeah, I've been meaning to go through the text again as well as update the layout a bit. Just have to get some translation jobs out of the way first. Thanks for the encouragement to go ahead and do it!
